Guided Walks – Algarve


We organise a programme of 2 – 3 hour guided walks which changes monthly, everyone is very welcome to come along and there is no need to book. There is a charge of 5 euro for each walk which includes a donation to charity (we are actively sponsoring 3 children in third world countries).



Tuesday March 21st – Let’s Walk along the Ribeira Algibre
A moderately easy walk that first climbs above the valley with great views over unspoilt countryside and then back along the Algibre river valley. Flowers everywhere. 10.30am start – meet at the Cafe Reguengos at Ribeira Algibre. From the A22 take the Boliqueime/Loule exit and follow the signs for Loule. After passing the quarry take the first road left and at the T junction turn left and follow the road through the village of Parragil and then down hill for about 2km when you come to R Algibre. Drive over the bridge and 200m further along the cafe is on the left (hidden) almost opposite the turning for Tor.

Tuesday March 28th – Let’s Walk from S Romao
A walk of almost 3 hours through totally unspoilt countryside awash with spring flowers. Moderately easy, there are some stony tracks.
10.30am start meet at the cafe Correia in S Romao. Drive to Loule and then follow the signs for Sao Bras de Alportel (the EN270). Drive towards Sao Bras and after 8km you have a turn to the left for S Romao. Turn and drive up through the hamlet until you come to a cross roads and the cafe is on the right (car park opposite).

Friday March 31st – Let’s Walk around Funcho Lake
A walk of almost 3 hours through totally unspoilt countryside and along the sides of Funcho lake. Moderately easy, 2 short climbs.
10.30am start meet at the cafe/restaurant O Gralha in Vale Fuzeiros. From Silves take the road towards Messines and after 9km turn left to Amorosa. Drive through Amorosa on the main road and you will then see a left turn to Vale Fuzeiros. When you come into the village the cafe is 200m along on the right.

Tuesday April 4 – Let’s Walk from Arao
A 2.5 hour walk though the foothills of Monchique with fantastic views to the coast and to the mountains. there are two gentle climbs, that will be taken at a leisurely pace!
10.30am start meet at the Cafe Cansado, Arao. From EN125 driving from Portimao towards Lagos after Mx. Grande you come to a roundabout. Continue towards Odiaxere and after 200m turn right to Arao, drive for approx 2km passing under the A22 and then you cross a small bridge with the cafe directly opposite. (Julie 965 753 033)

Tuesday April 11 – Let’s Walk at Cerca Velha, near Paderne
A fairly easy walk through beautiful countryside and small hamlets showing you how rural life used to be – some great views over the countryside to the north.
10.30am start – meet at the Cafe O Alagar, Cerca Velha. Drive to the village of Paderne and then up through the village in the direction of Boliqueime. You leave Paderne and 300m along you come to Cerca Velha and the cafe is on the left. If coming from Boliqueime take the road direction Paderne after 5km or so you come to Cerca Velha with the cafe on the right.

Friday April 14 – Let’s Walk from Malhao
The most stunning walk in the Algarve, challenging but worth every breath. Three hours of pure magic!
10.30am start – meet at the cafe at the entrance to Malhao. From the A22 take the exit for Boliqueime & Loule and follow the signs for Loule. Once passed the quarry turn left (there is a sign for the Alte Hotel) and at the next T junction turn left again. Drive through Parragil and continue on the road for about 15minutes until you come to Benafim where you meet a main road, now turn right. Follow this road towards Salir. After passing the village of Pena turn left at Taipa towards Alcaria. Now follow the road for about 10km, for the last 2km it climbs and at the top of the climb you will see the cafe on the right, just as the road forks. (allow 35minutes from the A22). If there has been heavy rain please call to check that the walk is happening.
