Guided Walks – Algarve

We organise a programme of 2 – 3 hour guided walks which changes monthly, everyone is very welcome to come along and there is no need to book. There is a charge of 5 euro for each walk which includes a donation to charity (we are actively sponsoring 3 children in third world countries).

Tuesday February 20 – Let’s Walk in the Foothills
A moderate walk of about 2.5 hours in the hidden foothills of Monchique – magical. There are some gentle climbs and amazing views to enjoy!
10.30am start – meet at the Cafe do Manel. Exit the A22 for the autodromo / Mx Grande or turn right at the roundabout on the EN125 after Mx Grande and follow signs for the autodromo, at the roundabout by the entrance take first exit right (Alcalar). After about 2km take the road to the left for Casais and Monchique. Drive for about 3km when you come to a T-junction, to the left just around the bend is the cafe on the right.

Friday February 23 – Let’s Walk from Querenca
An easy / moderate walk of just over 2.5 hours to the the Fonte de Benemola and beyond climbing up into the hillsides, with the spring flowers begininning to appear.

10.30am start – meet by the church in the centre of the village. Drive to Loule and take the ring road around the town and then the exit for Querenca / Barranco Velho (EN396). After about 6.5km turn left for Querenca and after a about 300m left again signed ‘Querenca’ – the church is at the top of the hill and there are 2 cafes close by.

Tuesday February 27 – Let’s Walk along Cliff tops & through the Wetlands
A 2.5 hour circular walk along the cliff tops in the Natural Park and then down to the wonderful Budens wetlands before passing Almadena fort on the return – moderately easy with some ups and downs.
10.30am start – meet in the carpark at Cabanas Velhas beach. Take the EN125 from Lagos towards Sagres and after 12km take the road to Burgau. In the centre of Burgau go right towards Almadena Fort and after 2km the track to Cabanas Velhas is on the left.

Tuesday March 6 – Let’s Walk around Cerro de S. Vicente
A lovely walk of just over 2 hours along quiet tracks around this hill close to Paderne. There is one gentle climb to the top where you are rewarded with great views in all directions.
10.30am start – meet at the Marisqueira Gomes Café, Mem Moniz. From N125 north of Albufeira take N395 to Ferreiras. At roundabout go straight over towards Paderne for 5km. The café set back on the right at Mem Moniz.

Friday March 9 Let’s Walk East of Sao Bras.
A really beautiful moderate walk including a couple of climbs along mixed tracks and hard standing passing through the tranquil valley of Bengado  where the Moors were in hiding; and if we are very quiet we may still see some living there. The walk is almost 3 hours
10.30am start – meet at Café ‘O’ Graciano which is 2.5km east of Sao Bras on the N270 direction Santa Catarina.

PRIVATE GUIDED WALKS

We can provide you with an exclusive walk guide with local extensive knowledge who can take you and your friends for a private walk (3 – 4 hours) in an area of your choice. They will be able to give you a direct insight into the lives and livelihoods of the local people (remember nearly 90% of the Algarve remains unspoilt and undeveloped).

Our charges for this are as follows:

1 – 4 people 80€

5 – 8 people 120€
