COME WALKING WITH US YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Everyone is very welcome to come along with no need to book. There is a charge of 5 euro for each walk which includes a donation to charity. The walks are friendly and international; we have walkers from many different countries. Please remember the following:
- Wear shoes suitable for country walking
- Bring a sense of humour
- Although we respect people will walk at different paces, please remember these are group walks.
Tuesday, October 3 – Lets Walk at Cerca Velha, Paderne
A moderately easy walk through beautiful countryside and small hamlets showing you how rural life used to be – some great views over the countryside to the north.
10.00 am start – meet at the Cafe O Alagar, Cerca Velha. Drive to the village of Paderne and then up through the village in the direction of Boliqueime. You leave Paderne and 300m along you come to Cerca Velha and the cafe is on the left. If coming from Boliqueime take the road direction Paderne after 5km or so you come to Cerca Velha with the cafe on the right. Julie 965 753 033
Friday, October 6 – Let’s Walk at Nave de Barao
A moderate walk of almost 3 hours through orchards of almond trees and up on the barrocal limestone with stunning views.
10.00am start – meet at the cafe in the centre of the village. From the EN125 – drive to Boliqueime and in the centre follow the signs for the A22 after 1.5km turn left towards Loule. After the quarry turn left for Alte and after 500m at the T-junction turn left again. Now follow the road for about 10km, when you come to the village of Alto Fica, drive through the village and 1km further on there is a turn to the right for Nave de Barao. Tuesday, October 10 – Lets Walk from SB Messines
This walk is a hidden gem through the countryside north of SB Messines with views to the Funcho lake. Just over 2 hours – there are a couple of short climbs.
10.00 am meet at the cafe/restaurant Joao de Deus, Messines. Drive up the old Lisbon road (IC1) and exit for Silves and Messines. After the exit roundabouts follow the signs for Silves, passing over 2 more roundabouts, a further 400m along you have a turn to the right for Messines. Turn and follow the road into the town passing the Bombeiros on the left, take the next turn right and the cafe is on the corner. Sean 926 558 751
Tuesday, October 17 – Let’s Walk in the Foothills
A moderate walk of about 2.5 hours in the hidden foothills of Monchique – magical. There are some gentle climbs and amazing views to enjoy!
10.00 am start – meet at the Cafe do Manel. Exit the A22 for the Autodromo / Mx Grande or turn right at the roundabout on the EN125 after Mx Grande and follow signs for the Autodromo, at the roundabout by the entrance take the first exit right (Alcalar). After about 2km take the road to the left for Casais and Monchique. Drive for about 3km when you come to a T-junction, to the left just around the bend the cafe on the right. Julie 965 753 033
